4. Web Page Promotions
This is commonly addressed to the folks that have or plan to have web pages for business purposes. You will receive email from a company claiming to be able to help boost your site traffic very often.
Realistically speaking - You may have a great site, but NO ONE CAN GUARANTEE how many hits you are going to get.
The best person to speak to about increasing your traffic is your web designer. If she/he cannot assist you in that area, you need to find one that can. But do not fall victim to the scam of promised traffic.

Pornography on the Internet is a tiny segment of what goes on there. If you look up "sex-shops" in the online Yellow Pages, you'll find a few. But if you don't actually go inside them, you'll never see any pornography.
Some people don't understand this. They have never used the net, but perceive it as some kind of TV show. They imagine porn on the net to be in your face.
6. Internet users are constantly at risk of being exposed to objectionable material
In some ways the internet should be compared to being in a public place where offensive behavior is directed at someone. You have the option to walk away and not partake. The same principle applies to the internet. On the internet, you will only see what you are looking for. You have the option to filter out what you don’t want to see. The internet is conversational.
7. Health Myths on the internet
The Internet can be a good resource for health information. A recent survey found that 81% of Internet users expect to be able to find reliable information about health or medical conditions online. Unfortunately, the Internet can sometimes be an abundant source of myths. Below is a typical example of one of the health myths on the internet.
Wearing a bra causes breast cancer.
Some versions of the rumor specify underwire bras. However, underwire or not, there is no validity to this claim. The American Cancer Society (ACS) states that there are no scientifically valid studies that show a correlation between wearing bras of any type and the occurrence of breast cancer. Two anthropologists made this association in a book called Dressed to Kill. Their study was not conducted according to standard principles of epidemiological research and did not take into consideration other variables, including known risk factors for breast cancer. No credible research exists to validate these claims.
8. Be careful when you sign up with a new internet provider
This myth is as follows: You might end up with an old Web browser, or some ancient e-mail program, resulting in you being stuck with the software you get from your Internet provider.
Fact: This is another odd myth that cannot seem to disappear. Even an old Web browser will work fine to get you onto a Web site where you can download a new Web browser. The software you get from your Internet Service Provider doesn't matter; you can replace it with a better Web browser, a fancier e-mail program or anything else, just by downloading what you need off the Web.
Summary
It is our hope, that by exposing some of these misconceptions and hoaxes, we can help you better deal with them if you encounter one. There are millions of website, millions of good people on the Internet, but there are a few bad apples. Just like the real world.
